REVIEW OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 7th
NOVEMBER 2009
CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
The
Association is now in its 79th year. The objects of the Association
are to “maintain, improve and develop public education in the appreciation in
the art and science of music by the presentation of public concerts, recitals
and festivals and to coordinate training of individual band members by
presenting masterclasses, courses and other
tutorials”. This was achieved in 2008/2009 by holding three events, The Brass
Training Day, The Spring Contest and the Spring Concert.
**********************
The
Brass Training Day was held in September. The Trustees are grateful to Besson Musical Instruments for their support of the event
and to Norfolk County Council and John Jarrold Trust
for donations towards the costs of the event.
**********************
The
Spring Contest saw the return after several years of the Hadstock
Band.
**********************
The
East Anglian Brass Band Association has always
engaged top class bands for the Gala concert and 2009 was no exception with the
return of the Brighouse & Rastrick Band.
**********************
Once
again
**********************
I
wish to thank the Trustees, Executive Committee and member bands for the
support they have shown during the year.
